Exotic Pet Care

Though the bulk of our clientele are primarily dogs and cats, we treat a large number of non traditional pets.

We welcome these “exotic pets” and hope we can share some of our extensive knowledge and training with your scaly, furred, or feathered friends. Our goal is to EDUCATE our clients about their exotic pets, as the majority (over 80%) of medical issues we treat have primary underlying husbandry issues. We have full capability for overnight hospitalization and can provide a wide array of surgical options if needed. Dr. Kevin Brumfield and Dr. Katie Cavell are the primary care doctors for the majority of our exotic patients and have extensive post doctorate training in this area. Dr. Sherri Kasper handles our fish medicine clients and, in addition to her post doctorate training, has been a speaker at the North American Veterinary Conference on the topic of fish medicine.

Some of the exotic patients we treat include the following:

  • Birds
  • Reptiles (snakes, turtles, tortoises, lizards)
  • Ferrets
  • Rabbits
  • Rats
  • Guinea pigs
  • Pocket pets (hamsters, gerbils, mice)
  • Fish
  • Hedgehogs
  • Sugar Gliders
  • Amphibians

Our doctors are national members of the ARAV (Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians), AFA (American Ferret Association), and AAV (Association of Avian Veterinarians). We hope you will allow us to help with any husbandry, medical or surgical issues related to your exotic pets. Please call if we can be of any assistance.
